So...as of now, I am a senior in the notorious SAIC Fashion department and as our final days in the Sullivan building pass us by, we will be focusing our first semester on learning menswear. I myself lean more towards women's wear, so I'm sure this year will kick my ass in many ways.
Anyways, our first project is men's jackets, with an emphasis on the concept of hybrid.....o0o0o..so we are all allowed to conceptualize it any way we want, which is great! What did i choose to do? oh well thanks for asking...
The hybrid of Science & Nature, more specifically using mathematics (phi-the golden ratio) on organic objects (plants, animals, humans) to explain why things are the way they are, to keep it simple. Mans way of using science to understand the ways of the unfathomable universe.
So after some hard thinking about the mathematics of form and the perfect interlocks of shapes
(ex-honeycombs) I thought about Tessellations! and who else can do tessellations better than M.C.Escher?
M.C.Escher - Day and Night |
Which made me think of this beautiful thing....by that i mean the jacket.
I Designed my jacket with all these ideas in mind, aaaand the picture is TBD, sorry, I'm just a little weary about putting technical images online. Always gotta be safe! Just know that this image is my main inspiration.....
